FAQ
Is there an MCP server for comparing US internet providers?
Yes. Commerce for Agents runs a free remote MCP server at https://mcp.commerceforagents.com/mcp. Its compare-broadband tool takes a US street address and returns the providers the FCC has on file for that census block, with technology, top speeds, latency and, for priced providers, a starting price with its conditions.
Does it need an API key?
No. There is no key and no account. The server speaks MCP over Streamable HTTP, so any MCP client that supports remote servers can add the URL.
Where do the prices come from?
Starting prices are the cheapest standalone plan on each provider's own website, checked by hand with the date and source URL in every result. Prices older than 45 days are dropped. The FCC data itself contains no prices.
Is the address stored?
No. The address is geocoded with the US Census geocoder to find the census block and is not stored or logged.
